A New Chapter in Barrington: Triangle Millennials’ Home Journey

In our Triangle living area, a young couple, graduates of Winston-Salem State University, embarked on a new adventure. Their journey led them to Barrington. There they discovered their dream ‘starter home’ – a charming two-story townhouse nestled on a .10-acre plot just beyond Zebulon’s busy area.

The Essence of New Beginnings

Hanging on the gallery wall is a snapshot of the happy couple on closing day. Months after, the smell of a freshly built home still lingers, filling the air with the scent of fresh paint and newly sawn wood. One of the owners says, “That scent – it’s uniquely ours, a reminder that this space is truly ours to cherish.”

Commuting to Raleigh, Settling in Barrington

At 29, the couple commute from their haven to Raleigh for work. They find comfort in returning home. What they love is that there are no prior occupants because it’s theirs.  A true sanctuary away from the bustling city life.

Embracing Opportunity in Zebulon

Although initially not their primary choice, Zebulon emerged as the unexpected destination for the couple. Nestled as the easternmost town in Wake County, it maintains a tranquil, rural ambiance, with a population of 6,903 according to the 2020 census. Their residence lies adjacent to the renowned Bennett Bunn Plantation, a nod to the town’s historical charm. The area has a quiet and serene nature. With a competitive rate of $176 per square foot, the townhouse became an appealing prospect, encompassing 1,761 square feet, three bedrooms, and two-and-a-half bathrooms.

Amenities and Financial Flexibility

Their choice offered more than just space; it included enticing amenities such as a clubhouse, a community pool, and a sports field. Dream Finders Homes, the builders, presented additional advantages by accommodating concessions. Through a buy-down loan, a down payment of 10% amounting to approximately $35,000 was feasible, aligning with their financial strategy. Their monthly mortgage payments now total $2,083, mirroring the previous expenses incurred while renting. Additionally, they maintain quarterly Homeowners Association (HOA) fees of $420.
